Disclaimer: This is not a comprehensive cruising guide to Annapolis, but a summary of our experience and recommendations and what we believe would be interesting to fellow travelers. If you have additional recommendations, please feel free to reach out.
Annapolis is known as the sailing capital of the world and with good reason. This is a destination filled with history and charm. If you’re looking for something boat related, you’ll find it here. The only way to know it is to go to it!
Anchorages and Mooring
- Annapolis City Anchorages – The free dinghy dock is located in the middle of town.
- Annapolis City Moorings – The City website describes the different mooring areas and prices. The largest one is located right in front of the town and is $35 per night. Price includes access to the restroom facilities and laundry. If you arrive after hours, you can hail them the next morning and they will come to your boat to accept payment.
Things to Do
- U.S. Naval Academy – If you spend a night in Annapolis, you will hear the horn being blown at 7 a.m. The naval academy is a big presence in the town and if you’re there, why not take a tour?
- Boat Tours – You can choose from a day sail, a sunset tour, or even be part of the Wednesday night races on a 74-foot schooner. Although we haven’t done it ourselves, this would be the option we would choose.
- Annapolis Ghost Tour – Take a walk through old town and learn about the history of the city. You’ll also learn some lore that lurks.
- Sofi’s Crepes – Our favorite crepe place!
