June 5, 2019: Ocean Cay

After breakfast we set out to Ocean Cay. With some wind in our sails we slowly sailed over to what we knew was a resort in the making. As we anchored , a very large sea turtle graced us with its presence. After getting settled on the north side of the island, we took a dinghy ride to Brown’s Cay and Beach Cay. Both islands had more rocks than sand and a decent amount of territorial birds. Despite this, Peggy had a great time running around and sniffing. She even dug for a crab! It’s the most hunting I have ever seen her do. It was a rough ride out there and as the sun was setting, we quickly made our way back.

We were hoping the construction on Ocean Cay would stop at night, but we were fooled. Construction went on all night. Whether or not they were productive is a different story. Although the sounds weren’t loud, the light was bright. Unfortunately, we were not able to get onto the beach to explore as we had hoped. So much for “an island to ourselves.”
