June 9, 2019: Venice of ‘Merica

We ended up weighing anchor around 5:45am. Our crossing of the gulf wasn’t as fast as our way over, but we had steady wind and good weather. However around 4pm the current was getting to us and the skies were darkening. We turned on the motor and headed towards the entrance to Fort Lauderdale. We arrived around 7pm and anchored in Lake Sylvia. We “checked in” to customs through the Roam App and had to change the oil on the dinghy motor.

Despite getting there at a decent time, it wasn’t until 11pm that we were ready to go to shore. Searching my phone for a place that would still be open, we came across the Drunken Taco. Just our luck because they were doing a buy one get one large margaritas. Welcome to America.
